Cask Marque and Sustainability

Here at Country Village Inns we are proud to be Cask Marque accredited and a BII Sustainability Champion. But what exactly does that mean?

What Is Cask Marque?

Cask Marque has been making sure that the cask ale served in pubs is in perfect condition since 1997. Every year qualified assessors check over 20,000 pubs all over the country.

Pubs are assessed twice a year. Qualified assessors test all beers for:

• Temperature

• Appearance

• Aroma

• Taste

What Is a BII Sustainability Champion?

The Sustainability Champion Award has been created by the British Institute of Innkeeping, and has been awarded to those in the pub industry who have demonstrated their commitment to building eco-friendly businesses and build a future that is better for pubs, people and the planet.

To achieve the Sustainability Champion status pubs must be actively involved in four key areas:

• Energy Reduction

• Waste Reduction

• Sustainable Procurement

• Customer & Team Engagement
